Our Center

 I was raised in Miami, FL and immediately after high school, I started a family. I am the mother of five biological children and shortly after I added three more children to my family. So now, I am a mother of eight “Grown” children. While raising my children, I decided to go back to school. While raising eight children, I acquired my Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice Administration and Master’s degree in Public Administration. 

I have held a plethora of jobs and I can say that every one of them, has added to who I am. No matter how insignificant any of them may have seemed, I gained something from the experience. I have dreamed of having a childcare center for years but fear, kept me from it. This is a word for the wise, follow your dreams; even if you have to do it scared. I am a living witness to this and now I can say, that it was well worth it.

I met husband, Johnny Mims over ten years ago and we were friends first. He has been one of my biggest supporters in all of my admirations and endeavors. Johnny and I married in August of 2017 and bought our first house together. When I tell you support makes a big difference, in how a person make life changing decisions. So, with that being said, here is another nugget; “surround yourself with people who wants you to win”.  

We became owners of Dottie’s Totties Childcare Center in September of 2019. It took us two years to finally open our doors but we have learned a great deal and knowledge is power. Our building had to be converted, in order to be a daycare and meet the state’s guidelines. So, it was a project to start but we are much more equipped from lessons learned. Remember as long as you’re learning, you’re winning. 

One thing you will learn when your children become a part of Dottie’s Totties family, is that we love each and every one of them, just as our own. Our facility provides a loving and supporting environment, so that your child feels right at home. The goal is to provide a safe and nurturing space, for every child in our care. On this journey, we will continue to trust God; for what he has in store for us. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you and your family, into "our family".
